The response to this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive and people are asking “what can I do to help?” While we wait for our family to arrive this is what you can do;
1. Spread the word
To your family, friends and even your Facebook friends, spread the word! Share our website link with everyone you can think of and encourage them to make a financial donation. Resources on this website are yours to use, so please use them!
Really, we want you to pray! We believe in the power of prayer so that God’s will can be done “on earth as it is in Heaven.” Inspire others with your prayers. Send us your prayers and we’ll do our best to add them to this website.
3. Don’t save your stuff, donate it to the Grimsby Benevolent Fund
For more than fifty years, the Grimsby Benevolent Fund has been a landmark of caring in our community. GBF has once again stepped up to the plate and have offered to help support our sponsored family once they make Grimsby home and will continue to do so throughout the year. Therefore, whatever you can do to help GBF now will indirectly help our Syrian family when they arrive. GBF is located in downtown Grimsby at 40 Elm Street. They welcome your gifts Monday to Saturday, 10am – 4:30pm. It’s a little known fact that they’re open later on Fridays; on that day their receiving hours are extended to 7:30pm.
4. Station 1 is #1 in our books
We are once again working with Station 1 https://www.stationonecoffeehouse.ca/ to host another community social evening to showcase our United To Help Syrians initiative, and to update the community as a whole. Details to follow. Station 1 Coffeehouse is located at 28 Main St. E, Grimsby, ON. They’ve already raised over $500 to help our family, so be sure to go in and say ‘thanks!’
